What Does #1 in Education Mean?

A Vision as Big and Bold as Texas.

We believe the future of Texas depends not only on what children know but on who they become.

  • Texas should rank #1 in Reading and Math/Algebra in the NAEP 8th Grade Report Card.
  • Texas should be the #1 state for deep literacy.
  • Texas parents should understand their children’s school funding as clearly as they understand their college tuition.
  • Texas public schools should be the safest place on earth for all kids.
  • School should be engaging, fun, and personalized with individualized options — not a one-size-fits-all factory.
  • Hold extremely high standards for all learners, but vary instruction to meet the specific needs of individual students to reach that high bar.
  • Students should progress through school based on content mastery, not age or grades.
  • Leadership at every level of the state and district system should be held accountable and incentivized with merit pay and job continuation.
  • Parents should be treated as high-value customers.
  • Assessments should deliver immediate actionable feedback for growth that parents can understand.
  • Graduation should produce college-ready, vocationally certified, military-ready, or first-job-ready, high-agency individuals who are fully prepared and free for their own pursuit of happiness and prosperity.
  • Real outcomes — defined as grade level proficiency and mastery, along with financial stewardship and transparency — should be financially rewarded.
